ENSEMBLES 2014

St Stephen’s College Chamber Orchestra

St Stephen’s College Chamber Orchestra

St Stephen’s College Chamber Orchestra is made up of 32 student members selected from St Stephen’s College Symphony Orchestra. St Stephen's College Orchestra was founded in 1976 as a chamber ensemble. Over the years it has developed into a full-size symphony orchestra. Our orchestra is a special group in St Stephen's and is an integral part of school music life. On campus, the annual Speech Day has become a major event for the orchestra. In 2013, the orchestra performed both in the 110th College Centenary Celebrations Concert and the Open Day.

Off campus, St Stephen’s College Symphony Orchestra takes part in various music events. In December 2001, the orchestra performed in the Closing Ceremony of the Southern District Arts Festival. We gave a guest performance in the Arts Festival 2003 hosted by the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology. In October 2003, we appeared in a joint schools concert at Queen Elizabeth Stadium to celebrate National Day, and in the St. John’s Cathedral Michaelmas Fair. We also join the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and the Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows annually, winning numerous prizes in different categories including symphony orchestra and string orchestra throughout the years.
