The SCL Festival is proud to announce, that the festival in 2012 will take place under the patronage of the Austrian Commission for UNESCO. The purpose of the UNESCO is to promote international cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture and communication/information in order to preserve peace and security. Patronage is UNESCO’s highest form of support. It is granted to demonstrate the Organization’s moral endorsement of an exceptional activity.

The decision of the UNESCO to support the SCL Festival is based on the "Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions", which especially supports cultural activities and exchange among children and youths the world over.

The SCL Festival and the UNESCO share this common goal, which we look forward to pursuing in 2012 and in the years to come!

The SCL Festival Vienna is Austria’s premier global youth music festival for choirs, bands and orchestras.

Taking place every July in Vienna’s two main classical concert venues, the Golden Hall of the Musikverein and the Konzerthaus, it offers an international environment where a thousand young musicians enjoy intercultural exchanges and build bridges that span continents.

Ensembles may participate either in the Competition or in the Celebration (non-competitive).

Top professionals form the international juries in the Competition and teach our Academy program at the Vienna University of Music.

Enjoy interactive workshops and educational lectures, additional concerts with local audiences, and pre-and post-concert tours in Europe.
