ENSEMBLES 2018

OJPA - Alicante´s Youth Orchestra

OJPA - Alicante´s Youth Orchestra

The Alicante´s Youth Orchestra is a unique project that unites the 200 highly talented young musicians, aged 14-26, from the Alicante Region. It was founded in 2009, by Francisco Maestre as its Chief Conductor.  The OJPA´s young musicians, are bound together by their passion for classical music, enthusiasm to be challenged, a desire to display their remarkable skills in the most prestigious concert venues, and to represent Spain and the Alicante Region at international events and work with the most important orchestras, conductors, musicians and soloists of our time. Every year, its members have to pass an audition to be accepted into the orchestra. Under the guidance of their conductor, renowned soloists, distinguished guests, and a team of professional tutors, the young musicians are given the unique opportunity to improve and complete their musical learning experience within the orchestra. With the dedication to strive for excellence at technical mastery, artistic and self-expression, the OJPA Program consists of intense weekend rehearsals at ADDA (Auditorio de la Diputación de Alicante), demanding repertoires, around 30 concerts per year presented in Spain and abroad, as well as participation in competitions, festivals and tours. Every summer the musicians take part in the most prestigious European Festivals in Germany, France, Spain, and Austria. At SCL Vienna, the orchestra has attained the 1st place with excellent success in the competition of the Golden Hall of Musikverein twice. In 2017, OJPA enjoyed its first exchange program with Amersfoort Youth Orchestra and is already looking forward for the next one in 2019. From 2013 to this date, OJPA has hosted the Alicante´s International Youth Orchestras Festival (FIJO). This event provides valuable occasions to learn and exchange musical and cultural experiences with the world´s finest musicians.
