Voce Soleil

Voce Soleil was founded in September 2024, in Aarhus, Denmark. The choir consists of 40 singers between the ages of 20 and 32. Together with the choir’s conductor, they create a unique experience through the medium of music. The music is experimental and the choir expresses itself artistically across multiple languages, polyphony, genres and other musical means and measures. With arrangements spanning 6-12 parts, one can expect to experience complex harmonies and polyrhythmic movements, which take the choir genre to new heights. The work of the choir is rooted in a vision of innovating Danish choir music and raising the Aarhusian choir environment, through new approaches and creative collaboration. Our vision is to create concert experiences in a fusion of body, music and poetry. We dream of spreading our vision at an international level, as we find great inspiration in that which characterises human beings across different cultures.

Johan Valdemar Hegaard Gabrielsson

Conductor

Johan Valdemar Hegaard Gabrielsson is a young conductor and composer, and the founder of Voce Soleil. He currently studies Music Teaching at The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark. Despite his age, Johan Valdemar has worked as a musician for ten years, playing piano concertos, trumpet, and composing, as well as teaching students, involving himself in projects such as bandmastering and project choirs. In the last five years he has entered the choir community of Aarhus, where he has conducted and competed with several different choirs, including Voce Soleil.
