ENSEMBLES 2026
Satit Prasarnmit International Programme Youth Orchestra

The SPIP Youth Orchestra of Bangkok, Thailand doesn't have an extensive history; in fact, it’s a bit of a mystery. Five years of records regarding its origins have dwindled into obscure memories of after-school "instrument parties" and secret snacks shared in the music room, entirely against school policy. In those early days, to celebrate a new piece of repertoire, the music teacher would gather his portable ensemble and guide them into the lift. They roamed the hallways in search of teachers still plugging away at grades well past work hours. Those lucky few who still remained in the building got to witness the birth of something much larger at play—though today, their names are little more than fading echoes in the school’s archives. Now, with a new maestro at the helm, that spark has become a flame. SPIPYO has grown into a unique force that incorporates almost every year group at our institution (we’re coming for you next, Year 13!). With only three members left who recall our informal "rebel" roots, we are relying on the oral traditions of our seniors to forge a new mould. We’ve built an iron-tight bond, and we’re eager to test it in the fire. Speaking of fire, SPIPYO performs an eclectic array of music that knows no boundaries. With a global mindset and a local soul, we aim to keep you on your toes, as the coals we burn are smoldering. From "The Blue Danube" Waltz to Thai Pop hits, the orchestra is a cultural melting pot of influence. We invite you to roast your marshmallows on our flame, because the Satit Prasarnmit International Programme is sure to bring a wave of heat to the stage. Respectfully so, of course.
