Pamukkale University Polyphonic Choir

The choir, which started its work with the establishment of the Department of Music Education in the 1995-1996 Academic Year, has performed successful concerts with concert programs consisting of polyphonic works in and outside Denizli. The choir, which has participated in many national and international festivals, has been deemed worthy of many awards and has received bronze, silver and gold medals in these festivals. The choir participated in the International Choir Festival held in Niš, Serbia between June 8-10, 2023 and the concerts it performed received positive reviews. The choir is happy to add a new one to the circle of Choir Festivals by organizing the Pamukkale University International Choir Festival in May 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2024. The aim of the choir, which draws attention with its depth in interpreting works, musicality and success in conveying musical elements to the audience, is to serve the formation and dissemination of the polyphonic singing tradition.

Aykut Önder Sarıçiftçi
Conductor
Aykut Önder Sarıçiftçi was born in Antalya in 1972. He entered the Department of Music Education at Marmara University Atatürk Faculty of Education in 1989. He worked in the Istanbul State Opera Youth Choir directed by Prof. Dr. Yücel Elmas between 1990-1993. He took part in many works staged by the Istanbul State Opera. He graduated in 1993. Sarıçiftçi arranged many folk songs for the choir as polyphonic and added his original compositions to the choir repertoire. Sarıçiftçi was awarded the Outstanding Service Award to Choral Music by the TRNC Eastern Mediterranean University in July 2018 for his contributions to Choral Music. Sarıçiftçi, who has taken part in many national and international events as a choir conductor, jury member, speaker and panelist, currently continues his duty at Pamukkale University.
