The Tivoli Youth Guard

The Tivoli Youth Guard, a world-renown ensemble steeped in tradition, proudly represents both Tivoli Gardens and Denmark on the world stage. Their iconic uniform, with its striking black bearskin hat, vibrant red jacket, and crisp white trousers, commands joy and respect wherever they perform. The Tivoli Youth Guard is composed of three distinct corps. The Tivoli Guard, founded in 1844 by Tivoli's founder, Georg Carstensen, became the world's first youth guard and an instant success. Today, it remains one of Tivoli's oldest attractions and is still active.

Gregers Thue Bast Nisson

Conductor

Gregers Thue Bast Nisson, 15 years old. Gregers has been a member of the Tivoli Youth Guard since 2017. As Conductor he is responsible for the band’s musical direction. At concerts and events he ensures that tempo, balance and expressions are on point, and he is part of the first row of musicians when marching parades. During rehearsals he works closely with the group to shape their overall sound.

Lucas Juel Facius

Captain

Lucas Juel Facius, 16 years old. Lucas has been a member of the Tivoli Youth Guard since 2019. Lucas is the Captain and member of the Color Guard. He serves as an honorary leader and plays a central role in drills and performances. The Captain gives orders, keeps everyone in line and leads by example. During rehearsals he supports the instructors and represents the group at official events. This role calls for a strong sense of responsibility, excellent oversight and effective teamwork skills.

Marius Fink-Jensen

The Drum Major

Marius Fink-Jensen, 17 years old. Marius has been a member of the Tivoli Youth Guard since 2021. As Drum Major he is positioned at the very front of the parade and leads the marching of the guard. As Drum Major he provides the visual cues needed to set the tempo, execute turns and musical changes, all signaled by the mace. He ensures the coordination between the marching and the music, and plays a key role in the guard's visual presentation.
