ENSEMBLES 2025

Cellofriends Youth Orchestra

Cellofriends Youth Orchestra

Founded in 2016, the Cellofriends Youth Orchestra (CFYO) is a unique ensemble dedicated solely to the cello. Its members are academically and musically gifted students from top Beijing schools and international institutions. With rich performance experience, exceptional artistry, a diverse repertoire, and a professional faculty, the orchestra has become a magnet for young cellists and audiences alike. In under a decade, CFYO has performed over 50 concerts at prestigious venues including Beijing Concert Hall, Zhongshan Music Hall, Central Opera House, Peking University Centennial Hall, and Hong Kong’s Elim Concert Hall. Most performances were sold-out solo concerts, earning widespread acclaim. The orchestra’s artistic excellence is recognized through top awards at competitions such as the "China-Germany Hummingbird Award", "China-Belarus Silk Road International Youth Art Competition" and "China-France Versailles Music Festival". CFYO’s repertoire spans Western classics (Baroque to Romantic) and Chinese traditional works. Collaborations with young composers bring fresh adaptations of film, pop, and anime music to life through the cello’s voice.
