Camberwell Girls Grammar School Orchestra

Camberwell Girls Grammar School (Melbourne, Australia) has an extraordinary string orchestral programme that engages students from Year 2 to Year 12, directed by the Head of Strings, Rohan Mack. Students have the opportunity to participate in any number of the five string orchestras, symphonic orchestras, as well as numerous chamber groups and string quartets. The SCL Celebration CGGS String Orchestra is a selection of string players from Years 8-12 (ages 14-17) including a harpist. The SCL String Orchestra is conducted by Rohan Mack.

Rohan is the Co-Director of Music (Instrumental) as well as the Head of Strings at Camberwell Girls Grammar School, Melbourne Australia. Camberwell Girls Grammar has long pedigree of excellence in music education and performance. At CGGS he is the conductor of the Symphony Orchestra, numerous String Orchestras as well being the Musical Director for the School Musical Productions, Irish Band and smaller chamber groups. Rohan also teaches violin and viola within the curriculum and co-curricular context at the school. Interested and influenced by a wide variety of styles and genres of music Rohan has played at or performed both nationally and internationally with the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra, Kooyong Chamber Players, Gene Pitney, the Australian Classical Players, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Melbourne International Festival and currently plays with the Australian Discovery Orchestra. Rohan is also currently the Musical Director for The Intermezzo String Orchestra at the Melbourne String Ensemble. Rohan is a graduate of Melbourne University (Music) and has a Graduate Diploma (Education) from the University of New England who has been a very active and passionate teacher of string playing and pedagogy throughout his career as well as being violinist, conductor, composer, and arranger.
