Ivy Chamber Strings

Ivy Chamber Strings, a 501(C)3 non-profit organization, is committed to providing high quality orchestral training and guidance to Orange County young music players from 6 years to 17 years old. In addition to weekly rehearsals, students are given the opportunity to work with esteemed professional musicians to further their music learning in sectionals and master’s classes.

Brandon Miller

Conductor

Brandon Miller has possessed a passion for music for almost as long as he can remember. Born in Long Beach, California, Mr. Miller spent the better part of his youth growing up in Chino Hills. Beginning drums at age twelve in junior high, he went on to be a member of the prestigious Ayala High School drum line, as well as drummer for the jazz band. After graduating, he began his formal percussion training after enrolling as a Music Major at Fullerton College. After two years at Fullerton College, Mr. Miller transferred to Chapman University where he received his Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion Performance. He then began working as a freelance percussionist and educator, teaching as adjunct faculty at several southern California high schools. In 2009, he was accepted into the CSU Fullerton graduate program where he completed his Master of Music degree, with a focus in Jazz Studies. After completing the graduate program, he was accepted into the credential program at CSU Fullerton where he would obtain his teaching credential in May 2013. In July 2013, Mr. Miller began his career as the Instrumental Music Director at Cajon High School in San Bernardino, California. As director, he was responsible for the Marching Band, Concert Band, String Orchestra, Jazz Band, District Drum Line, and Winter Guard programs. In 2015, he moved to his current position as Instrumental Music Director at El Toro High School in Lake Forest, California. At El Toro, Mr. Miller has developed a thriving program where students receive top honors at festivals and competitions. In addition to his role at El Toro High School, Mr. Miller assumed a position as conductor of the Ivy Chamber Strings Youth Orchestra in 2021. This outstanding group of young musicians has performed at several music festivals receiving top honors that have paved the way for them to perform at such iconic places as Carnegie Hall.
