The Lishan Junior High School Symphony Orchestra is a rare and comprehensive music program among general schools. Its structure includes a symphonic band, string orchestra, full orchestra, and percussion ensemble. The program is dedicated to enhancing students’ musical literacy and teamwork skills, achieving outstanding results over the years. The current director and chief conductor is Ms. Lee Shiao-Cheng, with guest conductor Mr. Lin Tsen-Ling.
Founded in 2002 by Mr. Lin Tsen-Ling, the symphonic band has a history of over 23 years. With the support of successive principals and professional guidance, the ensemble gained recognition in the Taipei City Music Competition in its third year. Since then, it has participated annually and achieved excellent results, frequently representing Taipei in national competitions and earning top honors and awards of excellence.

 

 

 

Lin Tsen-Ling

Lin Tsen-Ling

Conductor

Born in Taiwan in 1967, Lin Tsen-Ling was introduced to music by his father, Lin Ching-Yi. He studied composition under Lu Yen, Ko Fan-Lung, Chin Shi-Wen, and Cindy McTee. He holds a Doctorate in Theory and Composition from the Department of Music, National Taiwan Normal University, and is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Music at Soochow University. Representative works include the symphonies "Kuroshio Lanyu" and "Turning Point" ; wind ensemble pieces "The Movement of Flight" and "Legend of Carp Mountain"; Chinese orchestra works "Sea Festival" and "Bombarding Master Han Dan"; recorder ensemble work "Bagelang"; and chamber works "The Heart’s Impulse" and "The Fleeting Years", the latter two earning the Award for Encouraging Originality from the “Music Composition and Marketing Platform Project” sponsored by the Council for Cultural Affairs, Executive Yuan. His symphony "I Come from Afar" won First Prize in the Symphony Composition Competition at the College of Music, University of North Texas. His concerto "Monologue in Ancient Time" received Honorable Mention in the Formosa Violin Concerto Composition Competition organized by the Council for Cultural Affairs, Executive Yuan. His vocal work "The Brook Where Birds Sing" received Honorable Mention in the Literary and Artistic Creation Award from the Ministry of Education. He has served as a full-time faculty member at National Taitung University and as part-time faculty at National Taiwan University of Arts, Soochow University, and National Taichung University of Education. His past administrative positions include Director of the Music Promotion Center and Head of the Extracurricular Activities Section at National Taitung University, Secretary-General of the Taiwan Section of the Asian Composers League, Board Member of the ISCM Taiwan Section, and Director of the Shuangxi Music Ensemble.
