MYO Mondaino Youth Orchestra

 

The MYO Mondaino Youth Orchestra, one of the youngest Jazz orchestras in Italy, represents excellence in the national amateur music scene. Founded in 2011 and directed by M ° Michele Chiaretti, in its years of activity the MYO has been invited to various important musical events including "Umbria Jazz", "Florence Youth Festival", "Fano Jazz by the Sea", "Primiero Dolomiti Brass Festival", "Music in the Parma Castle", "La Mortella Ischia Festival". In 2013 and 2014 on the stage of the "Ariston Theater" in Sanremo, he won the "World Festival of School Music", overtaking orchestras from 19 countries around the world. In 2013 the orchestra won the “5th International Competition of the City of Treviso” and the “Cerni Eugenia Vitale” Prize in Rimini. In the same year MYO was awarded the "Solemn Commendation" by the Provincial Administration of Rimini for its social and educational role. In 2014, the first recording project "Keep Swingin '" was presented live from the studios of Gmmy Radio (California) in the historic broadcast "Hollywood, Broadway, Las Vegas". The disc was reviewed by the music magazine "Alias" among the best surprises of the year. On the occasion of EXPO Milano 2015, MYO was chosen to inaugurate the pavilion of the Emilia-Romagna Region and represent the Province of Rimini. In 2016 for the release of the second album "MYO andFriends" the orchestra collaborated with some of the most famous Italian jazz players such as Roberto Gatto, Gabriele Mirabassi, Antonello Salis, Maurizio Giammarco and Luca Sirianni. In the same year, MYO arranged and recorded the soundtrack of the film “In a Lonely Place”, a film distributed in Europe, the USA and South America. In 2017 MYO received the "Rosa dell'Umbria Award", an award given to organizations that have distinguished themselves in the dissemination of culture. In 2018 at the Rossini Theater in Pesaro the orchestra won the 1st prize in the national competition "Giovani in Crescendo" and the "Riz Ortolani Prize". In 2022 the ensemble participated in the celebration dedicated to Gerry Mulligan in Milan in the "Sala Verdi" of the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan, performing together with Maestro Mario Marzi.

M° Michele Chiaretti Graduated in Clarinet in 2000 at the “G. Rossini di Pesaro "and formerly 1st clarinet in the wind orchestra of the G. Rossini Conservatory of Pesaro, since 1997 he coordinates the activities of the Music School of Mondaino (Rimini) and since 2001 he has been teaching music in primary and secondary schools of Rimini. In 2011 he founded the MYO - Mondaino Young Orchestra, a youth jazz orchestra and musical educational model considered unique in the national territory. With MYO he won in 2013 and 2014 the "World Festival of School Music" at the Ariston Theater in Sanremo, the "International Competition City of Treviso 2013", the "Rimini Cerni Eugenia Vitale Award 2014", "Conad Jazz Contest 2105", "Rosa dell'Umbria 2018 Award","National Young Growing Competition 2018" and the "Riz Ortolani Award 2019". With MYO he represented the Emilia Romagna Region at "EXPOMilano 2015" and played among other events at "Umbria Jazz 2015", "Dolomiti Festival Brass 2015", "Florence Youth Festival 2017", "Musica in Castello Parma 2017", "Fano Jazz by the Sea 2013 and 2017", "Festival La Mortella Ischia 2018". He has worked with jazz musicians of international caliber such as Dutch Swing Colllege Band, Stefano Bollani, Roberto Gatto, Gabriele Mirabassi, Mario Marzi, Antonello Salis, Maurizio Giammarco. The record "Keep Swingin '" was reviewed by the specialized magazine "Alias" as one of the "best surprises of 2014" and was presented live from the studios of GMMY Radio - California (USA). The record "MYO andFriends" was awarded the "Special Plate to Music - Premio Rosa dell’Umbria 2017". In 2022 with MYO he was invited to perform at the “Sala Verdi” of the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan for the celebrations dedicated to Gerry Mulligan.
