The Magister Harmoniae Orchestra was born within the Musica Insieme APS Association in Grugliasco (TO) in 2010. The orchestra’s permanent conductor is the violinist Maestro Elena Gallafrio, who also serves as the Artistic Director of the Musica Insieme APS Association. Magister Harmoniae is an artistically high-quality ensemble that encompasses the musical training of students from the Agnese Pogliano School of Music, involving both teachers and professional musicians. Since 2010, this collaboration has led to events across national and international territories, featuring several prominent artists from the music scene, including Stefano Bollani, Giò Di Tonno, Fabio Gurian, Alberto Varaldo, Enrico Dusio, Silvio Bresso, Dario Destefano, and the DiscoInferno Band, among others. The orchestra has performed concerts in various regions of Italy, such as Piedmont, Veneto, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany, Marche, Sicily, and Basilicata, as well as in Austria, specifically in Vienna. Notable performances include concerts held in 2019 in Matera during the “Matera European Capital of Culture” event and in Sicily in 2018 to commemorate the anniversary of Peppino Impastato’s death in Cinisi and Palermo at the “Casa di Paolo Borsellino.” In 2019, the orchestra collaborated with Stefano Bollani at the Conservatory of Turin, and in 2022, they performed in Florence under the Loggia dei Lanzi in Piazza della Signoria, captivating an audience of over 5000 people during the 23rd International Festival of Youth Orchestras, representing Italy. They also graced the prestigious Terme Tettuccio in Montecatini. In 2023, the Orchestra proudly represented Italy at the Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival by playing in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, the Haydnsaal of Esterhàzy Castle, and at the MuTh. Upon their return from Vienna, the Orchestra performed in the Piedmont Regional Skyscraper in front of President Alberto Cirio. The Magister Harmo Orchestra continues to create harmonious waves across borders and stages, leaving an indelible mark on the world of music.

Elena Gallafrio, who founded the Musica Insieme APS Association in Grugliasco (TO) in 1992 alongside Concetta Rinaldi and Gabriella Gallafrio, serves as its Artistic Director. She directs and trains both the Youth Orchestra Musica Insieme and the Magister Harmoniae Orchestra, both of which are integral parts of the Musica Insieme APS Association. Over the years, Elena has played the role of a violin and ensemble music teacher within the association, nurturing musicians who now form part of the teaching staff. She earned her Violin Degree in 1994 from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Turin, under the guidance of Maestro Silvio Bresso. Elena has been recognized in various National and International Competitions, including the “Premio Città di Vittorio Veneto,” the “Premio Lorenzo Perosi di Biella,” and the “Premio Internazionale Città di Stresa.” From 1994 to 2004, she was a member of the Chamber Orchestra of Mantua, where she received her orchestral and chamber music training under the mentorship of renowned conductors, including Umberto Benedetti Michelangeli, the permanent conductor of the chamber group. With the Mantua Orchestra, Elena performed concerts and tours across Italy, Europe, and America, collaborating with esteemed musicians such as Alexander Lonquich, Uto Ughi, Misha Maisky, Giuliano Carmignola, Andrea Lucchesini, Mario Brunello, Ezio Bosso, and Gidon Kremer. She has also collaborated with the Turin Regio Theater Orchestra, the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, the La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra, the Turin Philharmonic Orchestra, and the De Sono Chamber Strings Orchestra. Elena’s performances and recordings span classical chamber ensembles as well as jazz and pop genres. She has worked with institutions like the Unione Musicale of Turin and the Turin Jazz Club, and collaborated with artists including Trio Debussy, Stefano Bollani, Emanuele Cisi, Fabrizio Bosso, Subsonica, Pooh, Africa Unite, and Dionne Warwick. Since 2021, Elena holds the position of a violin teacher at the IC Marconi Antone.
