ENSEMBLES 2024

Amicis Sinfonia

Amicis Sinfonia

Amicis Sinfonia, an Orchestra of friendship and passion, was founded from the collective vision of devoted musicians within the Joint University Performance organising committee. Since its inception in 2022, the Orchestra has grown to encompass over 70 musicians from diverse academic institutions across Hong Kong, encompassing both university and secondary school talents. This tapestry of musicians reflects our core values of inclusivity and a shared love for the transcendent power of music. Our debut in September 2023 featured timeless works such as Beethoven's Seventh Symphony and Mozart's D Minor Piano Concerto. The concert's resounding success led to a special feature on Radio Television Hong Kong Radio 2 for Christmas, heralding Amicis Sinfonia as a fresh and vibrant force in the local music scene. Looking ahead, we are thrilled to announce our upcoming concert on the 12th of April 2024 at the HKU Grand Hall, which will be a testament to our musicians' dedication and unity. Our commitment extends beyond performance; through our outreach, we bring the restorative essence of music to schools, hospitals, and elderly centres, affirming our belief in its profound societal impact. Our endeavours have been made possible through the generous support of patrons who believe in our mission. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our previous and current sponsors: Tom Lee Music, Vality Group, and Hsin Chong – K. N. Godfrey Yeh Education Fund. We also acknowledge the unwavering support of HKU CEDARS, HKU Orchestra, HKU Choir, HKU Cultural Association, and PolyU SAO Philharmonic Orchestra, whose encouragement has been instrumental to our development. Whether you are a budding musician aspiring to contribute to our symphonic tapestry or a music aficionado who wishes to be part of our audience, Amicis Sinfonia welcomes you to join us in this journey of musical exploration and shared celebration. Together, we will continue to break new ground, carrying the joy of music from the heart of Hong Kong to the historic stages of Vienna and beyond.
