ENSEMBLES 2025

Anglican Church Grammar School Choir

Anglican Church Grammar School Choir

Churchie’s Choral Program has a rich tradition of singing for both community service and performance. Encompassing boys in from the age of 7 to 18 as well as adults connected to our community, singers engage in events at St John’s Cathedral, Brisbane City Hall, QUT Garden’s Theatre and multiple on-campus events, such as our annual Choral Concert, Multimedia Gala, and Jazz Under the Stars. They enjoy collaborating with the Churchie Symphony Orchestra and Morris Wind Symphony for performances of large scale works. Some members of our touring Senior Voices also serve in the demanding St John’s Cathedral Scholarship program, having the opportunity to train in liturgical singing each week in one of Australia’s premier Cathedral Choral programs. Other members also participate in our innovative auditioned jazz acapella program Viking Vocals, which tours annually to the ANZ National Vocal Awards at the Generations in Jazz Festival, Mt Gambier, and have had the privilege of collaborating with guest artists such as James Morrison, Rai Thistlethwayte, Tom Burlinson, Naomi Price and Darren Percival. Churchie choral ensembles regularly win gold awards at local competitions the Qld Youth Music Awards and Musicfest, have previously toured to the Tutti Youth Music Festival in Beijing in 2019, and undertaken tours to Longreach in 2021 and Japan in 2023. Churchie’s Senior Voices are known for their energy, passion and vibrant sound as a changing male voice ensemble. They are excited to make their SCL debut in 2025.

Rosemary

Rosemary

Conductor

Rosemary is a dedicated and accomplished conductor, vocalist, pianist and educator. Her experience spans several schools, universities, churches, community, theatre, and film score settings. After studying piano, conducting and composition at the University of Qld, she has honed her exceptional aural skills and precise, nuanced conducting technique through postgraduate study with several eminent conductors of the Hungarian school; Dr Edward Bolkovac, Dr Laszlo Norbet Nemes, Reka Csernyik, and Micheal McCarthy. Over 20 years of conducting Secondary and Tertiary aged young musicians uniquely positions her to contribute both authority and warmth in demanding rehearsal schedules and performances. She is passionate about procuring ensemble members’ agency and engagement via carefully scaffolded opportunities to democratically contribute to the rehearsal process, instead of passively relying on either the conductor or their own ability. Her skills also extend to arranging and modifying orchestral scores to suit the skills level and instrumentation of the ensembles in her care. Her next aspiration is to commence a Doctorate in Performance (conducting) in 2022 at either the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, or Sibelius Academy, Finland through distance education.
