Puchheimer Jugendkammerorchester PJKO

 

The PYCO was founded at the end of 1992 by Simone Burger-Michielsen and her husband Peter Michielsen (Puchheim is situated in the west of Munich/Bavaria). The orchestra has 30 string musicians, the average age is about 16 years. Concert Tours and participation on competitions:
1995 Süd-Ungarn Bavarian Competition, Ingolstadt: „Mit sehr gutem Erfolg teilgenommen”
1996 German Competition, Gera: „Mit sehr gutem Erfolg teilgenommen” European Youth Music Festival in Kopenhagen/Dänemark
1997 European Youth Music Festival, Neerpelt/Belgien: 1. Preis cum laude
1998 Japan: Internat. Youth Music Festival, concerts in Kumamoto, Jonan Town, Yatsushiro and in German Embassy in Tokio (Soloist Mari Suzuki, Violin)
1999 European Youth Music Festival, Neerpelt/Belgien: 1. Preis cum laude Bavarian Competition, München: „Mit sehr gutem Erfolg teilgenommen”;
2000 German Competition, Karlsruhe: „Mit sehr gutem Erfolg teilgenommen”
2001 International Festival of Youth Orchestras in Florenz with concerts in Lucca, Florenz, Arezzo, Perugia und Bevagna
2002 Tassilo-Preis of “Süddeutsche Zeitung” European Youth Music Festival, Neerpelt/Belgien: 1. Preis summa cum laude
2003 10 years PJKO: happening with other musicians from folk rock, percussion and modern jazz International Festival for the Youth in Gaia / Portugal Bavarian Competition; München “mit hervorragendem Erfolg teilgenommen”
2004 Concert Tour to Italy with concerts in Florenz und Cingoli German Competition, Osnabrück: „Mit hervorragendem Erfolg”, 1. Platz
2005 concerts in Munich (Circus Krone, Prinzregenten, Bundesgartenschau) partnership Muenchener Kammerorchester / Christoph Poppen and Puchheimer Jugendkammerorchester / Peter Michielsen concerts in Czech Republic (Prague), Poland (Wroclav), Dresden and Weimar 2005 concerts in Munich; concert-tour to Austria and France

In the meantime different successful chamber music ensembles were established out of the orchestra. In 1999 for example three quartets won first prices at Jugend Musiziert on the district level and a first and second price on the national level.

In 2002 there were one trio and one quartet successful in this competition in Germany, 2005 there were four quartets.

Peter Michielsen

Peter Michielsen

Conductor

The PJKO conductor, Peter Michielsen, is also the teacher of almost all the violinists and violists of the PJKO.
He studied violin in Amsterdam with Davina van Wely and music science in Munich. He played freelance in many different orchestras, for instance in the “Concertgebouworkest Amsterdam”, in the “Chamber Orchestra of Europe”, in the “Amsterdamse Bachsolisten” and several baroque orchestras playing historical instruments – among them “The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra” with Ton Koopman.
He is specialized in teaching juniors aged between 12 and 18.
