Conductor
Georg Mark was born in Salzburg, studied conducting and violin in Vienna
at the Konservatorium Wien University, at the same time studies in musicology,
philosophy and psychology at the University of Vienna.
Among the orchestras with whom he performs in Austria, Germany, Russia,
France, Italy, Belgium, Norway, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania,
Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and in South America are the St. Petersburg Philharmonic,
the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra Moscow, the Nippon Yomiouri Orchestra,
the Nagano Philharmonic, the Orchestra National de Toulouse, the Royal Flaandern
Philharmonic, the Philharmonic Orchestra Bergen, the Trondheim Symphony,
the Oslo Radio Orchestra, the Slovak Philharmonic, the Prague Radio Orchestra,
the Staatsorchester Rheinland Pfalz, the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie,
the National Venezolanian Youth Orchestra Simon Bolivar, the Sinfonische
Orchester Graz, the Wiener Kammerorchester etc with Soloists like Julian
Rachlin, Natalia Gutman, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Angelika Kirchschlager, Franco
Gulli, Nicolaj Znajder, Boris Beresovsky, Till Fellner, Nikolaj Lugansky
and many others.
Since 1991 Georg Mark is Principal Guest Conductor of the Tchaikovsky Symphony
Orchestra Moscow.
His repertoire has a focus on music composed in Vienna with special emphasis
on combining modern performance practice with the 'Wiener Tradition', especially
works by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Bruckner and Mahler
- and on the other hand Russian music with focus on Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich.
Georg Mark is leading the conducting class at the Konservatorium Wien University.
