
Steen Lindholm
Conductor
Steen Lindholm has his degrees as orchestral conductor as well as church music director (organist) from The Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen. However, his international career as a conductor is first of all connected to the choir world. He has conducted choirs and had workshops and lectures in many countries all over the world, working with both professionals and amateurs, f.i. many years as guest conductor for Groot Omroepkoor (The Dutch Radiochoir) and the radiochoirs of Budapest, Vienna and Leipzig. He has conducted at the biggest choir festivals of Europe: Europa Cantat and 7 Nordklang Festivals (last in Finland 2004), and also at the Choreley Festival in Germany.
In his native country, Steen Lindholm has been artistic director of The Copenhagen Concert Society since 1971, founder and leader of The Copenhagen Chamber Ensemble 1978 until today (instrumental, professional ensemble), conductor of The Danish Radio Choir 1982-83 and chief of The Royal Opera Chorus 1986-90. From 1992 until 2006 he was also chief conductor of The Danish Boys Choir and has toured all over the world with these ensembles (Argentina 1997, engaged by Mozarteum Argentino and 2003 Ars Nova Festival in Salta, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, The Hong Kong Children's Choir Festival 2001, Africa Tour 2005). 2005, Steen Lindholm was guest conductor at the Trelew Int. Choir Festival in Argentina several times, also having a Master Classes.
Beside being active as a conductor, he is a popular and experienced jury member / jury president at choir competitions, f.i. Riva del Garda, Budapest, Darmstadt, Maribor, Kalundborg, Randers, Melk, Fort Lauderdale, Choir Olympics in Austria 2000, Korea 2002 and Germany 2004. Steen Lindholm has also been member of the IFCM board from 1982 until 2002.
Steen Lindholm was artistic chief of the Europa Cantat Festivals XII and XIII in Herning and Linz and was head of The World Symposium on Choral Music in Copenhagen 2008.
