

Violinist Albena Danailova was born in Sofia (Bulgaria). She started performing at the young age of ten, and she was furter recognized for her outstanding musical talent at various prestigious music competitions such as the Tibor Varga Competition in Sion and the Tschaikowsky competition in Moscow. .
After studying in Sofia under Prof. Neli Jeleva and Prof. Dora Iwanowa, Danailova moved to Germany in 1995 for further studies under Prof. Petru Munteanu at the University of Music and Theatre Rostock. She was awarded a scholarship by the Horst-Rahe-Foundation, and in addition won the grand prize of the German Instrumentenfonds. As a soloist Danailova has played mainly in Europe and in the USA, and has made numerous recordings for the Bulgarian broadcasting station, Berliner Rundfunk and NDR Hamburg. After her graduation with honors, she was chosen as second chair at the Bavarian State Opera under Zubin Mehta. Since May 2008 she has served as the concert master at the Vienna State Opera.
