
The Little Pines Choir of the Nanjing Youfu West Street Primary School in China was founded in 1950. By 2003, it was recognized as the premier chorus within the Nanjing student art organization. Currently, the Little Pines Choir consists of 68 permanent members and 32 alternates. The objective of the Choir is to help children appreciate arts and culture, develop their inherent artistic ability and contribute to a delightful childhood experience.
For more than half a century, the Little Pines children's choir has performed songs that represent the innocence of childhood and the beauty and harmony of nature. Its work is truly beloved by children as well as adults, and the choir has garnered much success and prestige within China and abroad.
The Little Pines Choir has enjoyed many unique artistic opportunities. It has taken part in the opening ceremony of China's 10th National Games, the first Chorus Festival for Teens, the Nanjing "Mansions Festival" youth symphony concert, and many other large-scale performances. In addition, members of the choir performed the song "Red Star" in the famous Chinese movie "Glittering Star."
Throughout the years, the Little Pines Choir has hosted many educational delegations from America, England, Japan, Australia and Singapore. Throughout its existence, the choir has created and performed many excellent works, such as: Every Morning is a Festival, I Love, River in the Forest, Wind in the Subway, and I Am a Little Citizen, winning many outstanding rewards and national recognition.
The Little Pines Choir has enriched the students' lives on many different levels - artistically, educationally and socially.
