Matthias Unterkofler was born in 1978 in Graz and read church
music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz,
where he studied under Josef Döller (choir directing)
and Michael Kapsner (organ) and was awarded a diploma in church
music with distinction in 2002.
Conducted works: choral and orchestral masses by Mozart,
Haydn and Schubert; the Creation and symphonies by Haydn,
the Fireworks Music, the Messiahs, Samson and Judas Maccabeus,
by Handel, the Magnificat and Glorias by Vivaldi, the Christmas
Oratorio, St Matthew Passion and Motettes by Bach, Symphony
No 2 'Lobgesang' and Paulus by Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Requiem,
Davide penitente, Mass in C minor and the Jupiter Symphony
by Mozart, the 5th and 7th Unfinished Symphonies by Schubert,
A German Requiem by Brahms, the 3rd Piano Concerto by Beethoven
and Swanlake by Tchaikovsky.
He is the founder and director of the Grazer Kapellknaben,
director of the Schielleiten Chamber Choir and the Graz University
Choir, Conductor of the Music School Orchestra in Weiz, artistic
director of the St. Peter am Kammersberg Cultural Summer and
the International Chamber Music Days in Raumberg.
